In what season was this photograph taken? Fall, of course!
Fall is the most beautiful time of the year in Pittsburgh, in my opinion, and there are lots of choices for beautiful locations. In this case, we are shooting at beautiful Frick Park in Pittsburgh. Frick Park stretches from its northern borders in Point Breeze down to the Monongahela River. There are lots of bridges, stone buildings, birds (over 100 species!), and beautiful flowers. The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy has completed the restoration of Reynolds Street gatehouse entrance, which you see here.
How ebullient our expectant mother looks in this shot! The colors and textures are striking, but do not overwhelm. For maternity portraits, I love a deep blue dress with a large design or floral print. Mother's black stockings pull the look together. And look at her expression! She is looking upward--is she looking at a bird?--and is so happy to be anticipating her new baby.
Fall leaves lay at her feet. The family will always know when this portrait was taken--in beautiful Fall!
