I've said it before, I love children's and babies' toes. In fact, it's a signature of mine. This is an example of a stylized picture that is taken alongside of portraits of the family. What does this adorable picture tell you? Well, it tells you that there's a big sibling and a little sibling, and that they are together on the crisp white bed. The older one is probably a brother because you can see his little trouser pants. The older sibling's feet list toward the baby, joining the two little sets of feet together in the portrait.
Clearly, this is not a "stand-alone" portrait; families wouldn't typically select a print of a portrait like this by itself. But combined with other pictures of the children, separately and together, it adds charm and individuality to a family portrait grouping.
Families are not on their own in deciding how to group and place portraits. We always talk about how to display portraits during the ordering appointment. Because most (but not all) of my clients are local to the Pittsburgh area, I typically come to their house and hang the portrait grouping myself, ensuring that the family is happy with the finished product.
I wouldn't go so far as to say that that my portraits of toes are what make my clients happy, but they do tend to love my "toes portraits."
