{"id":6450,"date":"2017-08-27T16:46:32","date_gmt":"2017-08-27T20:46:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.powderbluephoto.com\/?p=6450"},"modified":"2019-05-10T16:23:22","modified_gmt":"2019-05-10T20:23:22","slug":"pittsburgh-newborn-photographer-lifestyle-session-t-family","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/missytimko.com\/blog\/2017\/08\/27\/pittsburgh-newborn-photographer-lifestyle-session-t-family\/","title":{"rendered":"Pittsburgh Newborn Photographer | Lifestyle Session | T Family"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cLittle Boy Blue\u201d is a popular nursery rhyme that dates back to the sixteenth century, and the actual lyrics might even be older than that. \u00a0But, until the nineteenth century, all infants were photographed in white.\u00a0 Now, this may surprise you (as it did me):\u00a0 In 1918, the Ladies Home Journal wrote, \u201cThe generally accepted rule is <u>pink for the boys, and blue for the girls<\/u>.\u201d\u00a0 What??\u00a0 Believe it or not, this trend lasted until through the 1920s and 1930s.<\/p>\n<p>Now I realize that not everybody is a fan of the \u201cblue for boys, pink for girls\u201d thing. \u00a0As a baby photographer, I certainly don\u2019t cling to such stereotypes.\u00a0 But, stereotypes aside, babies in blue are pretty cute!<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6448 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.missytimko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/tilghman-042.jpg\" alt=\"newborn, blue and white, brothers\" width=\"1780\" height=\"2011\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Need more convincing? \u00a0Here&#8217;s another adorable shot of my &#8220;Little Boys in Blue,&#8221; big brother John and Baby William.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6445 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.missytimko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/tilghman-021.jpg\" alt=\"newborn, blue and white, neutral interior, baby feet, black and white\" width=\"1780\" height=\"3253\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This is the T family, who live in Upper St. Clair in a gorgeous historic stone home.\u00a0 The weather was really beautiful on this August day, so we took advantage and took a lot of shots out in the yard. \u00a0Even Mom and Dad are dressed in blue and white!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6444 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.missytimko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/tilghman-014.jpg\" alt=\"newborn, blue and white, on location, summer, black and white, dad, mom\" width=\"1780\" height=\"1646\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This was ostensibly a newborn session, but\u2014as usual\u2014the older-sibling toddler stole the show.\u00a0 John, age 3, followed me around and kept me company.\u00a0 I love this because it happens almost every time, and it\u2019s so cute!\u00a0 (Plus it\u2019s what goes on all day and night at my house!)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6449 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.missytimko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/tilghman-003-1.jpg\" alt=\"blue and white, on location, little boy blue\" width=\"1780\" height=\"5985\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Baby William was a big, mellow, sweet baby (having weighed nearly 10 pounds at birth), and slept almost the whole time.\u00a0 We did manage to get him to open those eyes, just a little bit. \u00a0By the way, notice how the blue sheet and white cable knit blanket extend the blue-and-white theme, while adding\u00a0an extra comfy feeling to these newborn shots.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6447 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.missytimko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/tilghman-033.jpg\" alt=\"newborn, blue and white, white cable knit, bassinet\" width=\"1780\" height=\"2971\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Mom Kim and Dad Lee are from the South and both have a \u00a0flair for southern styling in their home.\u00a0 So naturally, we wanted to go inside for some more intimate shots.\u00a0 The pictures of Mom and her &#8220;Little Boys Blue&#8221; are particularly beautiful with the home\u2019s neutral interiors, with Mom\u2019s blouse and blue hydrangeas extending this classic color scheme. \u00a0Kim chose custom gold frames to create a wall grouping to hang in their family room.\u00a0 These timeless \u201cLittle Boys Blue\u201d photos will only become more classic over time.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-6446 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.missytimko.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/tilghman-031.jpg\" alt=\"blue and white, neutral interior, newborn, toddler, mom and newborn\" width=\"1780\" height=\"2011\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Thank you, T family, for bringing artistic sensibility, southern hospitality, and family warmth to this photo shoot.\u00a0 I can\u2019t wait to see what Baby William looks like as he grows!<\/p>\n<p>###############<\/p>\n<p>Missy Timko is the photographer behind Powder Blue Photography, a boutique photography studio located in Pittsburgh, PA.
