I shot this session last month when it was a nice warm day but the leaves hadn't quite appeared on the trees yet.  This made it feel extra important to me to shoot this session when the lighting would be soft and lovely, which of course means golden hour! Hard to believe but this mama was about 38 weeks pregnant in these photos and had her baby about a week later! These two both moved to Pittsburgh from Europe a few months ago and will be raising their baby in our fine city of Pittsburgh, lucky little guy! :) I already got to meet the handsome little one and will be shooting his newborn portraits next week.  Now that we have lush leaves on all the trees and warm temps we will get some portraits of him outside. ********** Missy Timko is the photographer behind Powder Blue Photography, a boutique photography studio located in Pittsburgh, PA. Baby Blair 3 Months | Pittsburgh Baby Photographer

I could gush over baby Blair all day.  From the sweetest face ever to her charming personality to spending time with her awesome mama, this shoot was a highlight of my month for sure! Despite the dreary weather, I mostly used natural light for this shoot. We shot this session in the upper level of the house and opened up all the blinds completely.  With enough windows, this can work even on a very overcast/rainy day.  I did use some fill flash on the nursery photos, but that's kind of a must for images that are meant to feature the space (versus a portrait).  I have been using Canon 600 ex-rt's for a couple years now and I just LOVE them SO much.  Before that I used 580 ex II"s and, though that is a great flash as well, the (very expensive!!!) Flex TT1/Mini TT5 Pocket Wizards I was using for OCF were unreliable at best.  I appreciate that with the 600 ex-rt's, I can just turn them on and go when using for a light fill.  Time is money people.  I first saw the 600's demonstrated by Hanson Fong at Imaging in Nashville and knew I had to have them!  I also just got a MagMod bubble thingy and found it very simple to use but kind of heavy. This face!! Baby Blair, you are gorgeous!! Baby B, you are sweet and adorable and I can't wait to see you (and your mama) again in a couple months!!

Jack is 2! | Pittsburgh Child Photographer

I'm so excited to share the first images from my new studio in Point Breeze!  This is Jack, who spent his first year doing the Baby Plan with me so we are good buddies already! We tried a little natural light shooting in the sitting room, where Jack showed off his 412 style in a tee from Commonwealth Press. I thought that he looked pretty handsome in these black & white images! You're so cool, Jack!  Happy 2nd birthday! *** Are you looking for a creative studio portrait of your baby or child in Pittsburgh?  Powder Blue Photography offers studio portraits of babies & kids as well as family portraits in and around the city of Pittsburgh.  Please contact Missy to schedule a studio Little Session for your kiddos!
