Beautiful, check.  Smart, check.  Nice, fun, interesting?  Check!

I got to hear about some great classes they are offering at the high school and it makes me almost wish I were still teaching (I said almost!).  More importantly, Sasha is the one that filled me in on “Sporks”–a contest in which the seniors at Mt. Lebanon carry with them the very same spork for the entire school year.  They can’t just carry it in their bag, but on their body.  Apparently there is a Twitter feed devoted to announcing who is “out.”  I must admit I am impressed by this kind of devotion and I admire the commitment required to win!

I got a glimpse into the lives of a couple Mt. Lebanon class of 2014 seniors in September, and it brought me back to my days as a high school art teacher, which was my job for 12 years!  I taught photography, drawing, painting, ceramics, and a few other arts-related courses, and I even taught AP Studio Art, which was my absolute favorite class.  I loved working with this age!

So… onto the pictures….

Brooke and her mom were such a pleasure to work with because they were so active in the planning of this shoot.  They scouted many locations for me, carefully planned outfits, and were total troopers when I asked them to do things like hike through thorny meadows and carry my gear.  We did a few in the studio (for the yearbook!) but mostly shot on location near Bridgeville.

Brooke is currently shopping colleges and plans to study elementary education. She loves working with kids, so I was able to convince her to assist me on some upcoming shoots, including my FREE Halloween portraits on October 26th.  Congrats Brooke on your upcoming graduation, can’t wait to work with you soon!

Other news: I am planning to offer a holiday mini session shoot on November 3rd or 10th.  I have had a few interested families but will need a couple more to make it work.  The shoot will include 20 minutes of shooting time at a nature park or farm, a set of custom pop-out holiday ornament greeting cards, and an online gallery for ordering, and the shoot & cards will cost under $200.  Please get in touch or get on my mailing list if you are interested!  Details forthcoming.
