Newborn Baby Lena Mae | Modern Rustic Black & White Nursery

Please welcome newborn Lena Mae, born in Fall 2015 in Mt Lebanon.  This beautiful baby girl arrived about a week before Thanksgiving, and Mom still hosted a huge Thanksgiving dinner for family and friends.  Mom might have been exhausted, but Baby Lena had lots of loving arms to be thankful for. And who could resist holding this sweet baby in between bites of turkey and gravy? I really can't wait for you to see baby Lena Mae's nursery, one of the loveliest and most delightful combinations of creative visual elements I have ever seen.  (And I have seen some of the most amazing nurseries in all of Pittsburgh!) The first thing I noticed about the nursery was the color scheme.  While it had a distinctively sweet baby girl vibe, it also had an undeniable rustic & earthy quality.  The nursery was filled within homemade, hand made and personalized items, reflective of this family's strong appreciation of the warmth that handmade and hand-selected items can add to any room. Mom made the hanging yarn pom-poms and painted the antlers obtained in dad's hunting expeditions.  If you look closely, you can see a cute little hobby horse next to the crib; this little guy belonged to Dad when he was young.  This horsey was cleaned up in anticipation of Lena Mae's arrival. I was particularly blown away by the overall color scheme of this nursery.  Would you think to decorate a newborn girl's nursery with a black and white arrow trim?  Or put gold curtains with pink sheets?  Or place a turquoise lamp in the middle of all that black, pink, gold and beige?  I wouldn't either, but look at this beautiful result!  I admit it, Pinterest has definitely helped me come up with new decorating ideas, but I will never have the creative decorating eye that this mom has.  It is truly amazing how this eclectic room all comes together for little Lena Mae. What would you call this decorating style?  Rustic-elegant-artistic-baby girl-homespun-artistic?  Please tell me in the comments below! After a busy week, this new family is ready for some down time together. When you hear the word "rooftop," what do you think of?  Well, romance -- of course.  Think about Sleepless in Seattle, Dirty Dancing, LA Stories, ......  (For you parents out there who never get to watch grown-up movies:  Ratatouille, The Muppet Movie and Kung Fu Panda.) So, yes, rooftops equal romance.  Case in point:  Lexie and Ryan below.  The really delightful twist is that these very romantic pictures are of parents-to-be......and very soon.  Romance, love and having a baby--throw in a rooftop setting, and it gives me goosebumps.  I have the best job in the world! The location is a gorgeous landmark building in downtown Pittsburgh, where Lexie and Ryan live.  It was a sensational location, since it is near some of Pittsburgh's best food and cultural venues: restaurants like Sienna Mercado and Ten Penny, and the fantastic Pittsburgh Downtown Cultural District (including the Benedum Center, the Byham Theater, Theater Square, Heinz Hall, the Reilly Theater, and the August Wilson Center).  The view was spectacular (Heinz Field, the Allegheny River and North Shore, just to name a few). This was a Mom-to-be who really knew what she wanted.  I love that!  Her neutral clothing choices and professionally-done make-up were beautiful. Personally, I always think the family dog adds great personality to any shot.  This is Greta, who was a sweet and patient girl and a very good sport when it came to being photographed. Lexie and Ryan, thank you so much for the opportunity to capture this very special moment in your lives.  And for reminding all of us that romance and childbirth go together like love and marriage (and a baby carriage!).

Pittsburgh Lifestyle Newborn Photographer | Baby Seth

Meet Seth Isaac, born on August 14, 2015, seen here with Mom and Dad, Julie and Jonathan.  These pictures were taken on August 29 in the their lovely Fox Chapel home. And, NASA, take note:  The nursery has an outer space theme, complete with stuffed planets!  (I can relate -- my Jonah is such a "space nut" that he will name all the planets for you, in order, complete with their moons.  All you have to do is ask!) Seth also has an impressive number of Pirates bobbleheads, so I'm guessing his next shoot might have a baseball theme. Photo shoots really take a lot out of a little guy.  Night night, Seth! Many thanks to Seth's family, including Rascal the cat, for allowing me to capture newborn Seth Isaac.
